Ex-Photographer Bob Holcepl Pulls His Old Life Out of Storage for Exhibit @ Tower Press Gallery

Fri 8/16-Sat 8/24

Most people these days know Bob Holcepl as a Tremont based purveyor coffee, tea and accompanying bites. He and his wife Nancy have owned Civilization, the coffeeshop across from the southeast corner of Lincoln Park in Tremont, for nearly three decades, and he’s opened other businesses such as the Tea Lab in the 5th Street Arcades and City Roast coffee in the West Side Market.

But once upon a time, Hopcepl lived the high-flying life of a successful Cleveland-based commercial, advertising and fashion photographer, with studios in different parts of downtown Cleveland including the Tower Press Building, long before it was a hip artist work/live space.

He’ll be returning there in a way when his exhibit, Another Time/Another Life: Bob Holcepl, Photographs 1976-1986, opens at the Tower Press’s Wooltex Gallery. While it features some of his commercial work, it will also include a lot of the personal work he did for his own satisfaction before hanging up his camera in 1990.

The show opens with a reception Fri 8/16 @ 5-8pm. It will also be open Sat 8/17 @ 11am-6pm during Sparx City Hop. It runs through Sat 8/24. Proceeds from any photo sales will go to the Cleveland Sight Center and the Glaucoma Research Foundation.
