Northeast Ohio Contra Dance holds regular dances several times a month at different locations around northeast Ohio. One of those is Chagrin Falls Township Hall, where dances take place on the third Tuesday of every month.
The great thing about contra dancing is that it’s a community/social dance that requires no training or skills, and it’s all ages and family-friendly.
The dances all start with a lesson to orient newcomers and give regulars a chance to meet and help out the first timers. And once you get out on the dance floor, don’t worry — contra dancing is similar to square dancing in that it features simple, repetitive movements with a caller telling you what to do next. You don’t have to bring a partner either, because there’s constant partner-swapping and everyone gets to dance with everyone else by the end of the evening. Live musicians provide the music too!
Admission is $10 for adults, $8 for youth, $25 for a family.
