Cap Gun Cowboys Reunite to Celebrate 20 Years @ Beachland Tavern

Fri 8/16 @ 8:30PM

The core members of Cleveland alt country/punkabilly band the Cap Gun Cowboys are vocalist/guitarist/accordionist Greg Yanito and vocalist/guitarist/trombone player Phil Verhoef, who also pen the group’s material. They met in 1997 at a Jayhawks concert at the Odeon and began their first halting steps toward what would become the Cap Gun Cowboys.

They released a couple of albums in the early 00s: Girls, Cars and Smoke-Filled Bars in 2003 and Atomic Horsepower in 2005. They haven’t been all that active since, but they’re playing at the Beachland Tavern in what they’re billing as a 20th year reunion. They’ll be joined by the Church of the Lazy Bastards, a local band inspired by the outlaw country music of artists like Willie Nelson and Waylon Jennings. Zombo’s Record Party will spin appropriate music before and after the bands play.

Admission is $10.
