Akron’s Angie Haze Brings Her Multi-Genre Music to the Kent Stage

Fri 8/23 @ 8PM

Angie Haze is one of northeast Ohio’s most interesting performers. The Akron-based vocalist/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist has called herself and been called many things, often with the word “gypsy” involved. Her rhythm-heavy global folk rock is enhanced by her distinctive sense of style, and her songs are marked by a confessional, open-hearted passion who commitment is impossible to doubt.

Her Angie Haze Project has taken many forms and engaged many other musicians over time and virtually every instrument, providing a huge range of sonic textures. “Eclectic” is an overused word, but it barely begins to describe what Haze does.

She’s currently in the midst of creating a dozen EPs and two dozen videos that share the story of her life titled May My Stories Be Worn Like My Coats. She began the series of releases last year and has currently reached volume four. She’ll perform at the Kent Stage with Youngstown funk/soul/Latin trio the Labro Brothers opening.

Tickets are $15 in advance, $18 at the door.
