The Lighthouse and the Whaler Play Three-Night Residency at the Beachland to Share New Tunes

Thu 7/18, Thu 7/25 & Thu 8/1 @ 8PM

Despite eleven years, three albums, four EPs, numerous regional and national tours, and a reams of laudatory national press into its career, the Lighthouse and the Whaler remains one of Cleveland’s lower-profile bands.

Formed in 2008 by vocalist/guitarist Michael LoPresti, they’ve gone through many formats, sometimes stripping down, sometimes adding auxiliary members to the core trio of LoPresti, Mark Porostosky and Ryan Walker, exploring new aspects of their spirited, evocative folk-based music.

Last year, they kept the pump oiled with a pair of new singles, and now they’re preparing to head out to Los Angeles in August to record their fourth album, which they’ve been writing material for in the past year. Before they do, however, the band has booked three successive Thursday nights at the Beachland Tavern to take some of the new material out for a spin, mixed in with some old songs the fans love and they enjoy playing.

Each night of this residency will feature a different set list, a different selection of new songs and a different opening act. Fickle Hellcat opens on 7/18; the Catching opens on 7/24; and Holden Laurence opens on 8/1.

Tickets are $12 per show, or you can buy a pass for all three for $25.
