Polka Mass, Slovenian Food and Dance Party Are on Tap at Kirtland’s SNPJ Farm

Sun 7/28 @ 1PM

There’s another polka party going on this weekend at the SNPJ Farm in Kirtland, which echoes with the sound of those beloved Cleveland-style polkas all summer long.

This week the music for dancing will be provided by long-time Cleveland favorites, the Don Wojtila Orchestra, featuring accordion player and Polka Hall of Fame inductee Wojtila who works rock, pop, country and Broadway tunes into his version of polka. They’ll keep the dance floor filled from 3-7pm.

But the afternoon starts off with something special: Father Norman Gajdzinski, pastor emeritus of Harfield Heights’ St. Therese Church, will conduct the polka mass, whose hymns are set to polkas and waltzes played on the button box by another Polka Hall of Fame inductee, Kathy Hlad, and some friends. That starts at 1pm and lyric sheets will be available for those who want to sing along.

A Slovenian-style dinner, as well as sandwiches, will be available starting at 2pm.

Admission is $8, free for 18 and under.
