Hear Talented Teen Pianists & Their Teachers at BW and The Music Settlement

Tue 7/23 @ 7:30PM

Fri 7/26 @ 6:30PM

The biennial Cleveland International Piano Competition is all about identifying the stars of tomorrow, with pianists ages 18-32 coming from all over the world to try to win this prestigious event. More recently it’s working to identify the stars of the day AFTER tomorrow with its Young Artists competition for musicians 12-17 alternating on a four-year cycle with the main contest. That will take place in 2020.

And in off years, it presents its concert series, showcasing some stellar keyboard talents. At Baldwin-Wallace University in Berea it’s hosting 19 pianists ages 12-17 as part of its first competition preparatory camp, where pianists with identified promise participate in an intensive seven-day camp with private lessons, masterclasses, seminars and workshops.

It culminates with a competition performance, taking place at the Music Settlement’s Glick Hall on Fri 7/26 @ 6:30PM. It’s open to the public; admission is just $5.

On Tue 7/23 @ 7:30 there’s a faculty concert at BW’s Gamble Auditorium, which includes medalists from the CIPC as well as other competitions. It’s free and open to the public.
