Singer/Songwriter Joe Jencks Closes Folknet’s Spring Concert Series

Sat 6/8 @ 7PM

Local acoustic music nonprofit Folknet concludes its spring concert series with a performer who’s no stranger to this area: singer/songwriter Joe Jencks, currently based in Chicago.

The 20-year veteran of the folk circuit is a dual Irish/American citizen who draws from both sides of the Atlantic, incorporating the deep historical roots of Celtic music with the timely topicality of music by his mentor and inspiration, the late Pete Seeger. Seeger is honored on the title track of Jenck’s most recent album, 2017’s Poets, Philosophers, Workers & Wanders, which showcases the range of his songwriting skills, from sparse and direct to intricate and layered, and features guest performers such as Tret Fure, Jon Carroll, Harpeth Rising, Cathy Fink and Ysaye Barnwell of Sweet Honey in the Rock.

Also, prior to the show at 3m, there will be a community sing, followed by a potluck supper. Come down and get to know the folk music community!

Tickets are $15 for non-members; $12 for Folknet members. Membership applications are available at the door. The concert takes place at Church of the Good Shepherd in Lyndhurst.
