Paul Kovac’s Big ’Grass Band Hosts Lecture/Demo & Concert with The Music Settlement

Wed 6/19 @ 7-9PM

Fri 6/21 @ 8PM

Multi-instrumentalist/vocalist/songwriter Paul Kovac has been an active participant in the area’s music scene since the ’70s. He’s a veteran of such bluegrass/Americana bands as the Hotfoot Quartet, Clear Fork Bluegrass Quintet and Hillbilly IDOL.

Join him and his ensemble, Paul Kovac’s Big ’Grass Band, for a pair of events in conjunction with The Music Settlement. On Wed 6/19 @ 7-9pm at the Music Settlement’s new Ohio City Campus, he and his colleagues will be hosting a lecture/demonstration on the history and hallmarks of bluegrass. It’s an interactive, participatory event with attendees invited to bring along their acoustic instruments; there’ll be plenty of time for Q&A. The event is free.

Then on Fri 6/21 @ 8pm, just up the street at the BOP Stop, Paul Kovac’s Big ’Grass Band will perform an evening of traditional and original songs, including selections from their recent album, Ohio Bluegrass: From the Appalachian Plateau. In addition to Kovac, the band features David Mayfield on mandolin, Christine King on fiddle, Ron Bonkowski on guitar and Andrew Bonnis on bass, with all members contributing vocals. Tickets are $15.
