Generally we offer food for thought. And we always have plenty of that. But this time of year, our community is eager to feed itself in more ways than one.

Mythology of Illusion is the theme for this year’s Parade The Circle, celebrating 30 years, and everyone’s an artist, according to conceptualist Robin VanLear. Ohio Light Opera kicks off their 40th season with South Pacific and runs for 8 weeks, and we’ve got a preview. Taste of Lakewood takes over Madison Park to showcase one of the area’s foodiest communities.

If you have a garden, you know everything starts somewhere. Akron Pride is only feasible because of the dollars they raise with this week’s drag battle at the Akron Civic. An art auction at Good Goat Gallery benefits Burning River Roller Derby. Political change starts somewhere, and the next generation of politicians, represented by 19-year-old Anton Krieger, is knocking on the door; see our profile by CoolCleveland writer Jenna Thomas, a contemporary of Krieger’s.

Our popular Summer Farmers Market directory has just been updated, and Kent celebrates their cuisine scene with Kent Restaurant Week. Hale Farm & Village offers their Sow & Grow Farm Fest, and Cookies for Kids are on sale today at 11 area restaurants, with proceeds going to area food banks to feed kids this summer.
