All summer long, Playhouse Square will be filled with the sound of dancing feet every Tuesday evening, with its concert/dance series Dancing Under the Stars presented by Get Hep Swing (6/4-7/9) and Viva Dance (7/16-8/27) on its outdoor plaza. All ages — including families and dogs — are invited to come down to the free events, which feature dancing to live bands.
This week, Get Hep Swing is bringing in Pittsburgh’s Boilermaker Jazz Band to provide the soundtrack for Jitterbug/East Coast Swing, Lindy, Charleston, Balboa, West Coast Swing and Shag.
Don’t know what any of that is about? No worried! Come down early for a swing dance lesson from 6-6:30 before the band starts to play at 9. They’re gearing for all skill levels, so don’t worry if you’ve never stepped on a dance floor before. And don’t worry if you don’t have a partner — the fun of swing dancing is that everyone gets to dance with a bunch of other people and make new friends.
