Capitol Theatre Screens Doc About Transgender Teen Athletes

Tue 6/18 @ 7:30PM

In honor of Pride month, the Capitol Theatre is once again showing films of special interest to the LGBTQ community.

This week’s film is the 2019 documentary called Changing the Game, directed by Michael Barnett. It looks at the issue faced by transgender teens in participating in high school sports, following three young athletes who participate in track, wrestling and skiing in Connecticut, Texas and New Hampshire, as they deal not only with pushing themselves to excel but with the varied responses they get from their peers, coaches, opponents and the community.

The film will be followed by a discussion led by author/critic/actor and now executive director of Literary Cleveland Christine Howey.

Admission is $9.75 for adults, $7.00 for seniors & children, $8.75 for students.
