Brews + Prose, the monthly author reading event at Ohio City’s Market Garden Brewery, moves into its eighth year with a 7th anniversary event — actually TWO events.
There will be the usual reading (it’s 84th!) at Market Garden with two nationally acclaimed authors from Ohio, Mary Norris and Maggie Smith. The Cleveland-born Norris was a copy editor at The New Yorker for more than three decades and recently wrote a book about her Greek studies: learning the language, reading the classics and travelling in Greece. Columbus native Smith is a poet with three books to her credit; her work has appeared in The New York Times, The Paris Review and Best American Poetry.
And they recommend you come early to get a table, and eat upstairs (if you plan to eat) before the reading starts as there will be no table service during it.
Or you could join them beforehand across the street at Bier Markt for a happy hour/pre-party fundraiser. Tickets are $25 and include a drink ticket, hors d’oeuvres and a reserved seat for the readings; student tickets are $18 and don’t include a drink ticket.
