Lake View Cemetery Honors Fallen Soldiers on Memorial Day

Mon 5/27 @ 10:30AM

For many people, Memorial Day — originally Decoration Day, honoring those who died in World War I — is about more than just a day off work and a barbecue in the backyard. It’s a day to remember all who have died while serving in the armed forces.

For those people, Lake View Cemetery holds a memorial event each year, to honor those fallen troops, as well as friends and family members who have died in the past year. It includes a parade, a keynote speech and a band concert featuring music American military march composer (who himself served), John Phillip Sousa.

The event is free; attendees are invited to bring lawn chairs and picnic baskets and celebrate is the old-fashioned, small-town style. Costumes are optional!
