Kent’s New World Children’s Theatre Presents a Wacky Tale Written by Kids

Fri 5/10 @ 7:30PM

Sat 5/11 @ 3 & 7PM

Kent’s New World Children’s Theatre has been providing kids with the chance to write, act and watch theater performances for 25 years and produced 32 plays in that time, taking place under the auspices of Standing Rock Cultural Arts at their North Water Street Gallery.

Their upcoming performance is actually at a different location, the African Community Theatre in Oscar Ritchie Hall on the Kent Sate University main campus. It’s called The Oracle of Memeseville (Beware the Fre Shava Cado), and it’s a world premiere of an original two-act play written by the students at New World Children’s Theatre. It’s described as “a strange, original comedy where internet culture comes to life.” It’s packed with fantastic, surreal and sci-fi elements with “many twists and turns with the future of the cyber world held in a delicate balance.”

The kids also construct sets and props from recycled materials to help them think and learn about sustainability and conservation.

General admission is $5; $3 for students and seniors.
