For the next edition of the Capitol Theatre’s Happy Hour Classic Film Series, you might want to camp it up in post-war Hollywood glam style.
The 1950 film All About Eve starring Bette Davis and Anne Baxter, as an aging temperamental star and the ambitious up-and-comer who wants to replace her is the apotheosis, and exaggerated version of, that classic plotline. It earned 14 Oscar nominations and won six, including Best Picture. (Both actresses were nominated for Best Actress but neither one, perhaps cancelling each other out). It’s the source of the oft-quoted “Fasten your seatbelts — it’s going to be a bumpy night.
The evening starts at 6pm with a Happy Hour cocktail party, Admission ticket includes appetizers and a mini cocktail or soft drinks. Live music will set the scene. Afterwards, everyone troops into the renovated main auditorium for the screening at 7pm. Tickets are $10.
