The Friends of the Cleveland Kennel’s 15th annual Art Fur Animals benefit, which takes place this week, will also be its last. According to FOCL’s founder/executive director Becca Britton, it was just time to try something different — so stay tuned!
Meanwhile, the popular event, which has taken place at such venues as the Galleria, the Masonic Auditorium and Greys Armory, has yet another new location: The Madison, a new party/events facility at 4601 Payne in AsiaTown.
As usual, the event includes food, craft beer and wine, raffle baskets, a silent auction of work of all types donated by more than 125 artists, and a live auction of the custom fiberglass cat and dogs painted and adorned by local artists. DJ Funk-Shway will be providing the background music. And for those of you who were frustrated by bidding on your phone last year, good news — it will be all pen and paper bidding again this year.
All money raised from the auctions, raffles and ticket sales goes to further the work of FOCL: to provide care to abandoned and neglected animals to give them another chance at life, to provide affordable services for low-income pet owners at its Neighborhood Pets Outreach & Resource Center, and to promote adoptions through its City Dogs program, whose dogs with their little red “Adopt Me!” jackets you may have seen at events around town.
Tickets are $50, $60 at the door, which includes one drink ticket. VIP tickets, which include early access, free beer and wine all evening, an event T-shirt, and access to a special VIP lounge and reserved seating for the auction, are $125.
