The Dark Room at CPT Gives Writers the Chance to Air Out Their Works in Progress

Tue 4/9 @ 7:30PM

The Dark Room, taking place at the Church at CPT on the Cleveland Public Theatre campus, is a monthly event on the second Tuesday of each month where writers of all types can take their material out for a public airing. Plays, novels, poems — anything’s game to get feedback from a receptive audience. Writers can bring up to ten pages to be read by actors from the crowd. Sign-up starts at 7pm.

This month’s Dark Room kicks off at 7:30 with a featured performance by CPT’s own CFO and general manger Denis Michael Griesmer who has been involved with the theater in various artistic and managerial capacities since 2001. He’ll be presenting “The Poetry Psychic Show.” His show is described as “a unique and unorthodox method of divination for our difficult and overly-rational times.” In it he uses poems he’s selected to draw out “stories and confessions, insights and revelations” from participants to answer the question “What is the Universe trying to tell me tonight?”

Open mic readings start at 8:15. And there’s free Great Lakes Brewing Company beer. A $5 suggested donation would be welcome but they won’t lean on you if you don’t have it.
