It’s a sign of spring when the outdoor farmers markets return.
The first one is always the North Union Market at Shaker Square, now in its 24th year, followed by its Crocker Park Market the next week @ 9am-1pm. Shaker Boulevard will again be closed off for the four-hour market where you can shop for produce, meat, dairy products, baked goods and value-added products, all grown, raised or made in northeast Ohio. The market also showcases craftspeople with handmade clothing, jewelry, art and body care products.
It starts with the annual shearing of the sheep and storytelling with Greg Baldwin. There’s also live music (this week’s performer is singer/songwriter/guitarist Brent Kirby), cooking demonstrations and kids activities at the Mighty Locavores station to tempt them to give up McDonald’s for fresh, local food.
