Cleveland baroque chamber ensemble Les Delices concludes its tenth anniversary season with a program dedicated to the four elements — fire, water, air and earth — and the chaos of creation. It kicks off with Les Delices’ own arrangement of Jean-Féry Rebel’s tone poem Les Elemens, and includes music by Theo Chandler and Jean-Phiippe Rameau as well with music that suggests natural and made-man disasters. As they put it, the program “explores 18th-century ideas about the natural order while expanding the sound palette for period instruments.”
The ensemble includes flutist Kathie Stewart (flute), oboeist Debra Nagy, bassoonist Anna Marsh, violinists Julie Andrijeski & Scott Metcalfe, Steuart Pincombe & Jaap ter Linden on viola da gamba and Mark Edwards on harpsichord.
They’ll perform at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Akron on Friday, Lakewood Congregational Church on Satuday and Plymouth Church UCC in Shaker Heights on Sunday. Tickets are $25 and $35.
