Phil Keaggy is undoubtedly one of the best guitar players to come out of northeast Ohio, ever.

He first came to people’s notice in the early ’70s, with Youngstown’s Glass Harp, who made distinctive music that combined elements of melodic pop and ambitious prog rock to create a sound all their own. They released three albums in 1971 and 1972, before Keaggy departed the group in the summer of 1972 to focus on Christian music. Over the years, he built up a following in the Christian community as well as among guitar players.

Glass Harp eventually reunited in the 1990s to perform at the Rock Hall, and have done periodic shows ever since (They’ll be at the Music Box Supper Club May 16 and 17). To whet your appetite for their wonderful music Keaggy will be doing a couple of intimate shows at Nighttown. Guitar fans shouldn’t miss the chance to see this virtuoso whose music contains elements of jazz and classical music as well as pop and rock.

Tickets are $50.
