Blank Canvas Theatre Tackles Yasmina Reza’s Tony-Winning “Art”

Fri 4/5-Sat 4/20

French playwright Yasmina Reza’s 1994 drama Art is probably her best-known work, running for eight years in London’s West End and for a year and a half on Broadway where it won the Tony Award for Best Play. It revolves around an expensive painting of arguable value, purchased by one of a trio of friends, which becomes the catalyst for amplifying conflicts within their relationship.

It’s not a typical offering for Blank Canvas Theatre, which will be presenting the play, directed by Lara Mielcarek, with Chris D’Amico, Brian Pedaci and Michael N Herzog, all veterans of local stages, comprising the three-man cast.

The show runs Thursdays-Saturdays @ 8pm and Sundays @ 7pm through Sat 4/20. Tickets are $20.
