Fri 3/8-Fri 4/19
Every Friday from now through Easter, which falls on April 21 this year, Cleveland will be swimming in fish fries, many of them hosted by churches marking Lent, the season of deprivation — supposedly.
If you’d like to honor this custom but aren’t so much into the deprivation angle, come on out to Tremont’s Prosperity Social Club for its special Friday fish fry meals.
“If you order a meal of crunchy coleslaw, creamy mac-n-cheese and pillowy beer-battered white fish it’s definitely more of a treat than any sort of dietary sacrifice,” says Prosperity Social Club owner Bonnie Flinner. She’s not kidding. Prosperity’s thing is foods you remember from your childhood, tweeked just a little bit to make them special. Are there pierogies on the menu? You bet!
This is the 13th year Prosperity is hosting its Friday Fish Fries, and Flinner says they expect to serve more than 2,000 fish-y meals. The kitchen will open at 11am on Fridays and serve until midnight during Lent. Reservations are recommended for groups, but aren’t essential.
