For National Poetry Month, Brews + Prose Hosts Established Poet and Rising Star

It’s National Poetry Month, and the monthly Brews + Prose event at Market Garden Brewery is celebrating by presenting a pair of poets representing two different generations as their readers for April.

David Baker, age 64, has written 12 books of poetry, as well as six books of prize and won a panoply of grants and awards from the Guggenheim Foundation, the National Endowment for the Arts, Poetry Society of America and Mellon Foundation. He is a professor of English and creative writing at Ohio’s Denison University and poetry editor of the respected literary magazine, The Kenyon Review, which was founded in 1939 and has published early work by authors such as Maya Angelou, Dylan Thomas and Robert Lowell, among others.

Tunisian-American poet Leila Chatti, age 28, has published a pair of chapbooks with a volume called Deluge scheduled for this year. She is the inaugural Anisfield-Wolf Fellow in Publishing and Writing at Cleveland State University.

The evening is free and open to all.
