Bloom Bakery, which opened on Public Square in early 2016, provides downtown workers, residents and visitors with a quick, delicious bite. A menu of soups, salads and sandwiches serves the lunch crowd. But on top of good food, Bloom provides jobs and training for low-income and disadvantaged adults in the city that the nonprofit Towards Employment.
If you’d like to help them further that mission, there’s a crowdfunding campaign with the goal of raising $30,000. That amount would provide 10 bakers with 180 hors of training each, educational materials, a uniform, culinary certification and a baker’s toolkit, plus fund the support services Bloom provides to its trainees.
