Yards Project Opens “Trade Marks,” Featuring Artists Who Juggle Commercial and Fine Art Work

Fri 3/1 @ 6-9PM

How do artists juggle the work they produce for clients with their own creative impulses? That’s the subject being examined by the next exhibit at the Yards Project, called Trade Marks.

The work of nine artists — Stephen Bivens, Keith Berr, Dana Depew, Joann Dickey, Gabriel Gonzalez, Joe Lanzilotta, Cathy Law, mr. soul, and Jordan Wong — will reveal how they strive to function as both fine artists and working commercial artists. It looks at the impact of the marketplace and the need to generate profits on an artist’s own practice, which will be the focus of the art on display.

The opening reception from 6-9pm will also celebrate the launch of the spring issue of Cleveland’s quarterly visual arts publication CAN Journal, so expect a lot of the local art community to turn out.
