Spain’s Cuarteto Casals Comes to Shaker’s Plymouth Church with Beethoven, Mozart & Mendelssohn

Tue 3/5 @ 7:30PM

The Cuarteto Casals was formed in 1997 in Madrid by students at the Rena Sofia School of Music there. Winning prizes in a couple of competitions in the early ’00s brought them international attention, launching them on a career of touring and recording. Now based in Barcelona at the Catalonia School of Music where they teach, the group’s repertoire includes both time-tested classical pieces and newly commissioned works.

When they return to Cleveland to perform at Plymouth Church in Shaker Heights for the Cleveland Chamber Music Society, they’ll be doing a program of the former. It includes Mozart’s String Quartet in B-flat major, Mendelssohn’ s String Quartet No. 6 in F minor and Beethoven’s String Quartet in C-sharp minor.

Tickets are $30, $23 for seniors and $5 for students. There’s a pre-concert lecture at 6:30pm.
