“Aesop’s Animals” Come to Life on the Akron Civic Stage With the Illusion Factory

Sun 2/10 @ 2:30PM

Everyone knows some of the classic Aesop’s Fables, written by the ancient Greek storyteller about 600 B.C, even if just by osmosis, their lessons and morals are so familiar to us.

The Akron-based children’s theater the Illusion Factory has taken one of the most familiar, the tale of “The Tortoise and the Hare” (“Slow and steady wins the race”) and uses it as the basis of its production Aesop’s Animals. Since most of the well-known fables involve animals, his tortoise and hare introduce viewers to some of the others, including the crafty fox who causes a vain crow to lose his treat, the industrious ant who shares his bounty with a lazy grasshopper and the mouse who frees the lion trapped by hunters.

They’ll perform the show at the Akron Civic Theatre. Tickets are $12 for adults, $7 for kids ages 5-12.
