Concert at Shore Cultural Center Spotlights Afrobeat and African Dance

Thu 2/21 @ 8PM

Seun Kuti is the son of Afrobeat legend/pioneer, the late Fela Kuti. The 36-year-old took over the lead vocalist slot in his father’s band, Egypt 80, after his death. Like his father he has been politically active on behalf of the people of his native Nigeria. He’s release half a dozen albums including last year’s Black Times on UK-based Strut Records.

Suen Kuti & Egypt 80 (which still features many musicians who played with Fela) will be in concert at the Shore Cultural Center. The event, hosted by Professor Mwtabu Okhanta, also features local African dance ensemble Djapo.

Tickets are $20-$60 in advance, available here. They’re $30-$70 at the door.
