Lake Erie Ink’s Workshops Help Kids Get Ready for Dobama Kids’ Play Festival

Sat 1/26 & Sat 2/2 @ 10:30AM-12:30PM

For more than 40 years, Dobama Theater has hosted its annual Marilyn Bianchi Kids Playwriting Festival, named after one of Dobama’s founders. It’s a competition for kids from elementary school through high school, with the winners getting to see their plays performed on the Dobama stage.

Submissions are due Fri 3/1 with winners announced Mon 4/8; the festival takes place this year Fri 6/7-Sun 6/9.

For kids who have an idea but aren’t sure how to translate it into play form or teens who may have started writing a play but feel like something is missing, Lake Erie Ink is hosting a two-part playwriting working for youth of all ages at Dobama. Poet/playwright Kevin Latimer, a member of Playwrights Local’s Young Playwrights Collective whose work has been performed at convergence-continuum in Tremont, will help kids shape, revise and polish their work to get it ready for submission.

Kids can come to one or both workshops. Admission is $10 at the door; scholarships are available. Register here.
