International Short Film Festival Returns to the Kent Stage

You never know what you’ll see at Standing Rock Cultural Arts’ annual International Shorts Festival, now in its 16th year.

Taking place at the Kent Stage in downtown Kent, the event features films in a hodge-podge of genres including music videos comedy, animation, documentaries and experimental films. They come from Siberia, France, Slovakia, Los Angeles and even the exotic Akron, Ohio!

The evening opens will short films from around the world with the audience voting on their favorite film. Following that is a screening of last year’s People’s Choice Winner, Dan Nelsen’s “To Your Liking,” plus other shorts selected by the festival committee. It will also feature a dedication to Akron artist/filmmaker/art teacher Christine Gorbach, whose film “Threads” was shown at last year’s festival and who passed away in November at the age of 64.

Admission is $10, $5 for students and seniors.
