Dobama Stages Cleveland Premiere of Play Exploring How Words Impact Women

Fri 1/25-Sun 2/17

Dobama Theatre brings yet another play to the stage which hasn’t been seen yet by area theatergoers: the Cleveland premier of 2016’s Revolt. She Said. Revolt Again by young UK playwright Alice Birch. It explores how words impact expectations of, and relationships with, women, as well as their own behavior.

It’s described as “a theatrical manifesto for the #MeToo era.” A review in The Guardian called it “an experimental work focused on using a feminist voice which is loud; a feminist voice which seeks to change the world not through small increments but through a revolution: through the destruction of language; through the destruction of society.”

Dobama’s production features four Cleveland based professional actresses, Nina Domingue, Lisa Louise Langford, Rachel Lee Kolis and Miranda LeeAnn (two black and two white) and actor Abraham McNeil under the direction of New York-based director Sarah Elizabeth Hansley.

The run begins with previews Wed 1/23 and Thu 1/24 and runs through Sun 2/17. Tickets are $29-$35.
