Come Be Part of Creating Brite Winter Fest at Art-Making Workshops

Thu 1/31 @ 6-9PM

Sat 2/2 @ 1:30-5:30PM

You may think of Brite Winter as that outdoor concert event, taking place in the bone-chilling cold down in the Flats.

But it’s much more than a big concert, despite the line up of dozens of indie rock bands, both local and national. Among other things it has an interactive visual arts component not dissimilar from some of what the Ingenuity Festival does.

And in fact, it partners with Ingenuity and the Cleveland Museum of Art to invite anyone who wants to participate to come to workshops to help build the props and set pieces that create the immersive environments that take the festival to another level. They’re happening on Thursday evenings and Saturday afternoons through Sat 2/9. (Brite Winter takes place Sat 2/23).

For its tenth year, Brite Winter’s theme is Onward! — the golden age of travel. On Thu 1/31 Andrew Kaletta conducts a Super-Coral-Fragile-Artistic workshop, helping would-be artists learn to create corals from spray foam and recycled materials and work on other water-themed props.

On Sat 2/2 come to a performance-based workshop to learn improv, audience interaction and putting together a costume in keeping with the festival theme. Anyone who signs up for a shift at Brite Winter gets a custom-made costume to keep.

All workshops are free and open to the public — all skills levels (adults only please) and take place at Ingenuity Labs at the Hamilton Collaborative at 5401 Hamilton Avenue.
