Bring the whole family down to the BOP STOP for a “Holiday Fiesta,” an afternoon event featuring lively Latin music, presented by The Music Settlement and the Roberto Ocasio Foundation.
Onstage will be two local mainstays, pianist Jackie Warren and bassist Peter Dominguez, along with a visitor from New York City who is very familiar to local jazz audiences: percussionist Bobby Sanabria. Sanabria has been the backbone of the annual Roberto Ocasio Latin Jazz camps as artist director and artist-in-residence, honoring his former Berklee College classmate Ocasio who died in a car accident in 2004.
The show is not only free, but there will be refreshments, with gifts baskets and prizes for audience members to win, including free lessons and camp scholarships. There’ll also be a preview of a new Latin music band program that Sanabria is putting together with The Music Settlement faculty, due to start in January at TMS’s Ohio City campus.
