One of the season’s most fun and intriguing holiday markets is the one at Lakewood’s Lake Erie Building aka the Screw Factory. While the bottom floor is still industrial, the top two floors are filled with artist studios and large event spaces with big windows in what used to be an auto factory.
As always, the artists who work in the building will open their studio doors so you can meet and chat with them while you browse and purchase their work. That way you’ll have the back story on any piece you buy.
Plus the Lake Erie and Templar rooms will host more than 60 guest artists offering everything from fine art in various media — painting, photography, prints, ceramics — to fiber and leather work, jewelry, bath and body production, candles, perfume, clothing and edibles. Some of the resident artists will also be hosting guest artists in their studios, so there’s always a huge range of stuff to buy.
Not only is this holiday market is free, but there’s free gift wrapping and parking is free as well! If you feel moved, they’ll be collecting non-perishable food items for the Lakewood Community Center in bins at the entrance.
