Talespinner Children’s Theatre Tells a Story of an Infant Israel

Sat 11/24-Sun 12/16

You never know what part of the world you’ll travel to next when you step into Talespinner Children’s Theatre’s auditorium on the near west side. It draws its fairy tales, folklore, myths and stories from global cultures and has local playwrights transform them into compelling narratives.

Its next production, written by Margi Herward Zhtelli, is called A Song in the Flame (A Tale of Israel). Audiences will travel to the Middle East to Israel in it infancy when a pair of best friends find themselves separated during the Chanukah season. It looks at the traditions and culture that the new arrivals brought with them from their old countries and how they stayed connected to those cultures and traditions while embracing the new.

Talespinner’s founder/director Alison Garrigan directs the production which as usual draws on movement, music, costumes, puppets and masks to tell its story in multiple dimensions.

It runs Fridays and Saturdays @ 7pm and Saturdays and Sundays @ 2pm. Tickets are $10-$15 with several “pay what you can” performances scheduled check the website.
