Since its founding in 1974, Tuba Christmas has been a weird and beloved holiday tradition for tuba players and tuba appreciators all around the country. Tuba Christmas is pretty much exactly how you’d imagine it — a Christmas concert played entirely by tubas and euphoniums. Started by the Harvey Phillips Foundation, the event hopes to aid in their larger mission: to create greater appreciation and attention to atypical instruments. In Ohio, there are over a dozen opportunities to see or participate in this low brass ensemble and celebration in cities all over the state from Ashtabula to Akron to Columbus.
