The Cleveland Opera’s next production retells the classic story of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet in Vincenzo Bellini’s opera I Capuleti e i Montecchi.

The chamber production featured five costumed soloists in the roles of the “star-cross’d lovers,” with Dorota Sobieska as Juliet, Elizabeth Frey as Romeo, Bryant Bus as Juliet’s father Capellio, , Brian Skoog as Tebaldo and Mark J. Miller as Lorenzo, accompanied by Jacek Sobieska on piano. The opera will be sung in the original Italian with English titles projected over the stage.

The opening performance takes place at Ursuline College’s Daley Hall. It will also be performed at the East Cleveland Public Library Sat 11/10, with additional performances later in the month in area churches and libraries.

It’s free although freewill donations are welcome.
