Cleveland Blues Man Travis Haddix Celebrates His 80th Birthday at the Music Box

Sat 11/17 @ 7PM

OWow radio — Cleveland’s own Internet radio station — continues its BluesTime concert series at the Music Box Supper Club with a special night with Clevlnd-based vocalist/guitarist/songwriter Travis “Moonchild” Haddix.

What’s special about it? The artist is looking forward to celebrating his 80th birthday on November 26, and this concert is an early birthday bash.

Haddix is another Cleveland blues treasures that many Clevelanders outside the blues scene aren’t that aware of. He migrated north from Mississippi in the mid ’50s and arrived in Cleveland in 1959 after spending some time in Milwaukee. He immediately made his mark on the then-thriving soul/R&B club circuit here.

Later in his career, he focused on touring and blues festivals many of them in Europe. He released a series of records on the Atlanta-based Ichiban label and later on his own Wann-Sann label, showcasing his blending of traditional blues with uptown soul influences.

Tickets are $8. Doors open at 5pm for dinner; reservations are required if you want to eat.
