UK’s Marian Consort Pays Tribute to the Blessed Virgin at Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist

Fri 10/19 @ 7:30PM

The UK-based Marian Consort, founded by Scottish countertenor Rory McCleery, is an early music vocal group that performs primarily music from the 15th-18th centuries (including modern treatments of older texts), seeking out mostly less familiar pieces.

The group takes its name from the Blessed Virgin Mary so it’s not surprising that its program at Cleveland’s Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist is called “Music for the Queen of Heaven.” They’ll perform works by William Byrd, Williams Cornysh, Robert Parsons, John Sheppard, Thomas Tallis, Stephen Dodgeson, Nicholas Ludford, James MacMillan and Andrzej Panufnik.

The concert is free; there’s free parking in the Cathedral garage at Rockwell and East 9th Street.
