Many people adopt an unusual pet without a full understanding of the care and issues involved — and end up wanting to dump the animal. Curious, active ferrets are one such animal that enchants people with their its adorableness, but can be a handful for an untrained owner.
Cleveland-based nonprofit, no-kill Ferrets Unlimited Rescue Service (FURS) comes to the rescue of such ferrets, re-homing them into more appropriate situations. Even if you can’t adopt a ferret, you can help them out by attending their annual Ferrets by the Lake open house and fundraiser.
There’ll be light refreshment, games, raffles, a photo contest, a veterinarian speaker and yes, ferrets in attendance. It’s free but they’re undoubtedly banking on the fact that once you see the ferrets, you will fall in love and want to help them!
