Sat 10/20 @ 9:30AM-3:30PM

The Ohio Fair Trade Teach-In and Expo is an annual event that truly cannot be missed. From 9:30am-3:30pm in John Carroll University’s Dolan Center, there will be opportunities to learn about and engage in the Fair Trade Movement — fighting for just wages, conditions and equality for marginalized workers around the world.

Keynote speakers include many experts in the field of fair trade produce. Nicole Vitello is the president of a 100% fair trade fruit company, Oke USA Fruit Company, which also partners with Equal Exchange. Journalist and filmmaker Katherine Nagasawa will be featuring clips from her documentary, Beyond the Seal, about the banana industry. On a similar note, author Dan Koeppel will be be discussing his book Banana: The Fate of the Fruit That Changed the World.

In addition to these snapshots of the banana industry, there will be a marketplace featuring 40 different fair trade vendors with advocates from all over the state to educate people, and bring fairer, more sustainable, and ethical and options to us.

Admission is free, and you can register for the event at ohiofairtrade.com/teach-in-expo-2018/.
