Laura Bidwell and Shari Wilkins Talk About Their Photography on View at the Massillon Museum

Sun 10/14 @ 3PM

The work of two Cleveland-based photographers, Shari Wilkins and Laura Ruth Bidwell, is currently on view at the Massillon Museum’s Studio M Gallery, which showcases the work of area artists. Both Wilkins’ Promised Land and Bidwell’s The Great Tangles use photography as a form of journaling. Bidwell documented her move from Peninsula to a new home in Cleveland’s Hingetown neighborhood, observing the “tangles” of foliage along the way. Wilkins returned to her father’s ancestral home of Cairo, Illinois, a dying city in southern Illinois, whose disrepair and decay she documented with miniature instant film.

Hear more about the backgrounds of these projects from the artists themselves when they give a talk at the museum. It’s free and open to the public.
