House Rocking

It comes naturally to us. We know how to rock. It’s in our blood. It’s in our living rooms.

Now Ohio City’s Mechanic Street house concert hosts Joel Elvery and Lynne Phares are taking the show out of their front room and on the road, at least temporarily, to the relatively wide open, yet still intimate BOP STOP. Rockers the Scenic Route, Night Goat and Damn the Witch feature in our PODCAST #05, along with details on a Halloween Flea Market and Goth Yoga. Listen here.

Fair trade is flourishing, thanks in part to the 40 years of work by One World Shop, and you can help with the next 40 at their upcoming benefit. Or be in the Van Aken District at the fundraiser for Fostering Hope, helping kids aging out of the foster care system.

We’ll keep you rocking with details on weekly Sunday market in Akron’s Northside neighborhood, Owls & Howls at CMNH, Tessa Lark heading up an all-Brahms program with CityMusic, and hometown artist Hildur Jonsson interviewed at her one-woman show in NYC.

We endorse Sherrod Brown for US Senate and Rich Cordray for Governor, and urge you to make it a priority to vote on Tue 11/6, or vote by mail in advance. This is one house that needs a good rocking. –Thomas Mulready
