“There is nothing quite like a gerbil show!” the promoters of the American Gerbil Society Midwest Gerbil Show say.
Given that a gerbil is a small rodent usually weighing only a few ounces and keep in a tank with tunnels, it’s probably safe to say it is indeed nothing like a dog show or cat show where animals walk on leashes and snuggle up in laps. But they’re considered clean, easy-to-care-for pets.
There’ll be educational displays, presentations by gerbil experts, care tips from breeders and information on animals available for adoption. There are even pet-class competitions.
Learn all you ever wanted to know about gerbils at the Westlake Doubletree by Hilton Hotel this Saturday. Admission is $5 or $25 maximum for a family. The event is very family- and kid-friendly.
