The BOP STOP Celebrates 4th Anniversary With a Concert and Jam Session

Fri 10/19 @ 8PM

Fri 10/19 @ 11PM-2AM

It’s been four years since the BOP STOP began presenting concerts on a regular basis as an offshoot of The Music Settlement, after the facility, designed for live jazz performances, was donated to TMS by its previous owners. Since then well over a thousand events have taken place there, ranging from jazz, classical, folk and pop performances, to benefit, film festivals, comedy nights and more.

The club celebrates with a party featuring Pittsburgh’s funky Beauty Slap. The five-member band combines four classically trained horn players with electronic sounds to create music that’s designed for a dance party. Trumpet player Scott Nadelson, trombonist Gabriel Colby and bass trombonist Hakeen Bilal met as grad students at Carnegie Mellon University, then added DJ/keyboard player Jake Bernsten and later rounded out the ensemble with trumpet player Joe Badaczewski. Now they call themselves the “electro-brass-thunder-funk machine, blending James Brown with contemporary electronica. Wear comfortable shoes. Admission is $15.

Then stick around for the 4th anniversary jazz jam session, starting at 11pm. Bring your horn to join the house band led by drummer Anthony Taddeo and stretch out on your favorite tune. Performers of all ages and skill levels are welcome. It’s free.
