From now through early December, Akron rock quintet Red Sun Rising will be on the road, hitting venues in cities such as Pittsburgh, Buffalo, Asbury Park, Portland (Maine), Atlanta, Tampa, Wichita, Omaha, Des Moines, Kansas City, Milwaukee and Columbus on their “Together We Are the Thread” tour. They’re taking the music from their sophomore album, Thread, released earlier this year, directly to the fans.
Before they go, however, they’ll be doing a special unplugged set at Akron’s Goodyear Theater with Spirit Animal and legendary ’70s Akron punk band the Bizarros opening.
One of the songs from the album the band is highlighting in a new video is “Stealing Life,” which features stories from people whose lives have been affected by suicide.
“This song is about the aftermath of someone taking their own life — a topic that unfortunately hits very close to home with the band,” says RSR in a statement accompanying the release. “That is why are excited to be able to raise money for suicide prevention and mental health awareness. Being able to affect actual change with our music side by side with the charity that changed our lives personally is a dream come true.”
Tickets are $20. A portion of the tour’s proceeds will go to MusiCares, the Grammy organization’s charity which provides medical, financial and personal assistance to people in crisis.
