New York City cabaret vocalist Marissa Mulder is in northeast Ohio for several performances, and one of the most interesting promises to be her evening of songs by Tom Waits at Nighttown.
Waits, known for his distinctive voice that’s not really duplicable by other performers, has songs that invite them to enter and find their own voices within them. That’s what Mulder does with her Tom Waits show, which won the New York Times’ “Best Cabaret Show of 2015 citation. It includes songs like “Ol’ 55,” “Day After Tomorrow,” “Downtown Train” and “Looking for the Heart of a Saturday Night.”
She’ll be accompanied by pianist/vocalist Jon Weber. Tickets are $25
