Cleveland online radio station oWow was founded and is helmed by John Gorman, the man who led WMMS to market domination in the 70s and 80s.
He’s using some of the ideas he used then, especially personalizing the station for the local market by supporting area artists and promoting special events, such as the live broadcasts they’ve done for the past two summers from the Music Box Supper Club.
Now they’re adding another series: the Saucy Brew Works BluesTime Concert Series, a monthly series springboarding off the station’s BluesTime radio show Sunday nights @ 9pm-midnight.
It launches, appropriately, with the Alan Greene Band, featuring guitarist Greene, a local veteran whose music career goes back to the early ’70s. In addition to fronting his own band for many years, he was also a mainstay of the bands of the late Bill “Mr. Stress” Miller and played in Jonah Koslen’s Breathless in the late ’70s and early ’80s. The station tapped him to host the BluesTime program, drawing on his extensive knowledge of the genre.
Admission is $8.
