Bluegrass Star Alison Krauss Comes to the Akron Civic Theatre

Tue 9/11 @ 8PM

Tuesdays are usually sleepy days for events. But this particular Tuesday, three massively influential women musicians are all performing in northeast Ohio on the same Tuesday. The Liz Phair show at the Beachland Ballroom is long sold out but you can still snag a ticket to see Ani Di Franco at the Kent Stage or Alison Krauss at the Akron Civic Theatre.

Krauss’ days as a bluegrass fiddle prodigy are now long behind her. At 47, she’s carved out a stellar career, making her solo album debut at 16, followed by another four and seven with her band Union Station. She became a member of the Grand Ole Opry at 21. She even did collaboration with Led Zeppelin’s Robert Plant, the 2007 album Raising Sand. And she’s won 27 Grammys along with a raft of awards from the Country Music Association, the International Bluegrass Music Association, the Academy of Country Music and the Gospel Music Association.

Her latest album, last year’s Windy City, debuted at #1 on the Billboard Country Chart. She may not be a prodigy anymore, but she’s still red hot. Tickets are $65-95.
